Water benders and little Miss sunshine.

For a special father’s day surprise, I had the absolute pleasure of spending the day with four siblings.  It was a day that was filled with water bending, laughter, balloons and sunshine .  I am always appreciative when I edit sessions like these because I am reminded of how much the little things matter.  How amazing it is to discover a really cool coloured rock or what it is like to imagine having the ability to control the tide with your mind.  To just feel the sand between your toes and live in the moment, this is why I love child portrait sessions.

Thank you for choosing me to document these precious moments in your  life.

Life seems to go at warp speed sometimes and every mom just wants to remember the days when your babies, are still babies, in your eyes.    It is so interesting how one day our children are bundles of endless love and as they grow into preteens that expression of love becomes selective.

Like “E”, he is still cool with showing mom love as you can see in the picture below but sister love is just not allowed.  I guess this is just a part of growing up because I remember how my sister and I use to torment each other.   I remember one time we even drew chalk lines down the middle of our room and I was so happy because the door was on my side. :)

Now those are the stories we share with our children and the memories that make our bond today even stronger.  So my wish for “E” and “O” is that they tell the story of the crazy cold day at Allan Gardens to their kids and that they can even pull out the pictures to show them!

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth!

Posted November 19th, 2009 in Child Portraits by Gina Ayanna

I remember loosing my front teeth as a child and if we have met, you might understand the trauma. My front teeth are big… at least I’ve always thought so. The thing is now I can say, it is what it is and move on but when I was young that was not the case. Especially being a girl, I remember that awful song that my family tortured me with (All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth)

Thankfully cute little Mr. Cassie need not worry about these things. He is filled with curiosity about the world around him and has questions about everything. I am positive that he could win the Guinness book of world records for talking non-stop. There is an absolute joy that he has for everything around him… that thing we have as children and seem to loose as adults. I am thankful for the moments that I get to be reminded to be a kid again and this was one of those days.
