This journey called my life.

Goals are such a huge part of evolving and growing.  As the year is coming to a close, I am looking at the things I have accomplished and at what is next for me.  Here is what  my list of goals look like so far and I will share it again in six months, which forces me to be accountable for whats on the list.

 To do List:

Get family portraits done

Need a vacation. Places I’d like to visit, Barbados, St. Lucia, Hawaii, Greece, Australia and the list goes on

Read one book per month for a year, each month challenging myself to try something I would not normally read

Go on a road trip

Visit Vancouver

Shoot my first wedding

Take a picture everyday for one year as a part of a series and blog it

Show my love and appreciation for the people in my life everyday

Launch a new rebranded website in 2012

Make a promotional video to go on said website

Fill my iphone with positive affirmations, (reminding myself to love myself is huge for me)

Send the proceeds of one full wedding commission to charity water

Visit and do a photography series on Japan

Get over my fear of driving and just do it

Have another baby

Be more mindful of what I put in my body

Exercise at least 3 times a week and try to get it up to five

Play squash and tennis once a week

Tell my daughter that I love her and how much she matters everyday

Enter a photography competition

Get my work published in a magazine

Help to inspire and mentor others

Paint at least 2 paintings this year

Do a styled photo shoot

Go to a Vipasana retreat even though it kinda scares me

Own a summer home by the beach

Learn to be more still

Create a cool project, just for Nyla and I

Go away for a romantic getaway, just the two of us

Blog honestly like nobody’s watching or cares

Stop and savour the sunshine

Host a few dinner parties

Celebrate today

So the shoot is done but for me that means the work is just beginning.  Here is a screen shot from a recent styled shoot that I am currently editing.   Also I thought I would include a couple of the tunes that I’m bobbing to as I do what I do.

From spit bubbles to ballet shoes…

I feel like I have said the next line over and over again and it has become redundant but here I go again.  I am not sure where the time is going, it feels like only yesterday I held my baby girl in my arms and yet she is not so little anymore.  We are about to celebrate Nyla’s fourth birthday in a week and  I have once again been reflecting on how much she has grown and evovled over the years.   Its crazy to imagine that not too long ago she was blowing spit bubbles and hardly talking at all.  Especially, because just this morning I heard her say “Daddy your feet are humongous”, which had me cracking up.

Nyla has grown from a baby that would crawl around our house to a big girl who likes to do everything by herself.  This year her request was to be able to take ballet classes… mind you it’s really pre-dance but the excitement she gets from putting on her tights, leotard and ballet slippers no one could tell the difference. Seeing her grow and mature really made me realise how fast time is moving and how important it is for me to do the things I recommend to others.

So this year I wanted to make sure and document our changes because normally I take lots of pictures, however, as most photographers would know I am hardly in any.  This coming Sunday we are having our pictures taken by my friend and fellow photographer Jenne Yun and I can’t wait to see my family through her eyes.

Celebrating life and love,

Gina Ayanna
