October is a month of change, Fall/Autumn begins and my favourite part is the changing leaves on all the trees. Life in our house in the month of October is always super crazy and full of changes, this year has been no exception, in fact it has been a bit insane. The reason for the craziness is that Nyla, Andre and myself all have birthdays in October and there are many other October birthdays in both of our families. Now add Thanksgiving and Halloween to the mix and you can image our hectic schedules.
Nyla is up first, she turned three on Oct 7th. She had an amazing time with all her friends at Fairytale Land in Richmond Hill. Since we really didn’t do anything much for her 1st or 2nd birthday, we kinda went overboard for her third.
Unfortunately, Nyla got sick after her birthday and seemed to recover but about a week and a half later she was down with a really bad ear infection. Our bubbly little girl had a fever of 104 and was in so much pain, it was really a stressful time. Thankfully she has bounced back to being herself….which means she is talking to me nonstop as I try to write this post.
My birthday was October 9th, I enjoyed spending time with family as Thanksgiving was the same weekend. Andre’s birthday was October 16th, we kept it low key and went out for dinner.
We also have some exciting news to share!! We have a little one on the way that is due in May. I had such a mixture of emotions, from uber excitement to straight up scared. I was planning a home water birth with Nyla…. if this makes you think, “You’re crazy!” I get it. I got that response a lot but I actually ended up with a c-section and a painful recovery process, so hence the fear. That experience taught me that when you make plans God is known to laugh. So now I am hoping for the best and I am painfully aware of the other scenarios.
Up next is Halloween, we haven’t really taken Nyla out trick or treating because she was just so little. She would stay home with my mom and hand out candy. So this will be her first year actually going out and having the true Halloween experience, I am looking forward to seeing it all through her eyes. So as you can see lots of changes have taken place so far this month, and we are trying to enjoy each moment as it happens. “Life is not the amount of breaths you take, it’s the moments that take your breath away.”-Hitch
Here are some random snaps from the month, hope you all are enjoying your October.
Celebrating love and life,
Gina
